"The toad was a bit too much."
+ Good and bad things happened today.

The good: I cooked myself lunch, and it tasted awesome. This is noteworthy, because 1) I don't usually cook and 2) when I do, it's usually not tasty.

The bad: I tried formatting my hard disk (because it wasn't allowing me to add/delete anything while plugged into my Mac) and ended up accidentally deleting everything from it. WHOOPS. There's 4 years of photos from my university life gone down the drain! I'm being surprisingly calm about it (although when I realized what exactly I'd lost, I let out an audible gasp, and I usually never audibly gasp), which, I guess, is some sort of testament to how unflappable I've become. I'm the Emil Hamilton of the real world, bitches. Anyhoo, I'm going to have to track down some friends and redo my photo collection. The only silver lining in this whole mess is that my hard disk is now magically working, so I can at least back-up all my music now and not worry about when my Mac will (next) crash on me.

Oh, well. Let's move on to less depressing things.

+ Merlin

- Charles Dance. SO CREEPY. He made Uther look like a wuss! Awesome, awesome casting.

- The smoke-pony thing? Stupid, yeah. Adorable? Yeah. (BUT WHY THE SAD FACE, WOOBIE? *hugs*)

- There weren't many funny bits in this episode, but some stuff was just plain hilarious. The woman in the beginning over-exaggerating the whole thing with her "I feared for my life!", followed by Merlin's eye-rolling, the women who came up later, talking about goblins and faces in the water and great, big, slimy, fist-sized toads (and we thought Uther was a big drama queen), Arthur and Gwen's slightly amused WTF faces upon Merlin being accused of sorcery, Aredian spitting out an ENTIRE TOAD OMG and then Gaius's impression of it later on ... just, HEEE!

- The scenes where Merlin walks into Gaius's chambers after he's been arrested, and when he watches him being hauled off by the guards? Gah. HOW DO YOU SAY SO MUCH WITH YOUR FACE, COLIN MORGAN? <3

- I wish we'd gotten some Merlin/Morgana interaction in this episode ... there was so much potential! Poor, distressed Morgana, terrified out of her wits at being questioned by the Witchfinder! I'm sure she could've used a friend, no? (But, if we're not going to get any of that, can we please have kickass, fierce, S1!Morgana back? I don't like how they've turned her into a damsel in distress this season.)

- I've grown to love sneaky!Merlin. I mean, he does it almost EVERY episode, and he's so cute fumbling around and knocking things over and basically being the exact opposite of stealthy ... it's just super fun to watch. *smishes Merlin*

- Merlin and Gwen working together to help Morgana and Gaius! *thumbs up* I like. It's been so long! And more Merlin&Gaius happytimes please, show! They're so cute when they're joking with each other.

- Gwen was pretty kickass herself, getting Arthur to stop the execution. I thought bringing up her father's death was pretty damn bold and just the right kick to get Arthur to do what she wanted. Girl can play her cards as well as Morgana can!

- Uther/Gaius ending scene FOR THE FREAKIN' WIN. It's about time Uther got to hear that stuff, and coming from Gaius, it was just PERFECT. And OMG, Richard Wilson makes the BEST bitchfaces. Trufax.

- The music. You guys, the music. It's been so wonderful lately. And the stuff playing over Gaius being brought out in Aredian's cart for execution ... wow. Amazing.

- Next week: Uther gets his just desserts.

+ The thing I love about LJ is that if you like something, it's likely someone else does too, and that they made a pretty picspam out of it! YOU GUYS. The Matt/Caroline friendship right now is the most precious thing in the world. ♥

+ Smallville recaps should be up in a couple of hours. \o/
